BRIDGE HOUSE FAMILY SHELTER The Bridge House Family Shelter occupies a Victorian house here in Lynn and houses 11 homeless families. Our families have a variety of issues facing them as they work with us to regain their self sufficiency. Some of the women are escaping domestic violence. Some of the families simply cannot afford a place to live, or have no income to pay for rent. Together, the staff and the parents work to set goals, to define areas of concern and to ensure that each family has what it needs to make a good faith effort at independence. Picture top right shows GE volunteers building a play set in the backyard of the shelter. Picture bottom right shows the playroom library, built by eagle scout Matt Voss— and his proud dad- a GE volunteer. Families needing housing assistance should contact DTA’s regional office for placement. Interested in helping our families at the Bridge House—call 781-593-3898.
