Our Mission
Lynn Shelter Association’s mission is to provide a safe environment for each individual to define and pursue their goals for independence and self-sufficiency. We believe everyone deserves a place to call home.
Each year, we help more than 1,000 individuals and families from Lynn and the North Shore who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We operate an Adult Emergency Shelter, three Family Shelters, Permanent Supportive Housing, Community Outreach, and Housing Support Services that help people move beyond homelessness and into stable, long‑term housing. We create warm, supportive environments – by listening and building relationships based on dignity and respect.
Our History
Lynn Shelter Association was founded in 1984 as the city’s first adult emergency shelter. Over the past 42 years, we’ve expanded to include outreach, family shelter, case management, and housing assistance for homeless individuals and families. We opened our third Family Shelter in 2025 and opened our new Adult Emergency Shelter in 2026 in the historic Osmund Building. Through all of our programs, the goal remains the same – to help people get the support they need so they can have a permanent home of their own.
